Equipped with a highly trained nurse, lifestyle director, and care partners, Horizons Memory Care offers specialized programming that is individual in its approach. Our lifestyle director leads programs that incorporate each resident’s history, preferences, and abilities. The goal of each day is to provide an opportunity for activities of leisure, work, rest, and self-care. We offer two all-inclusive care packages and an option for additional care.

Our day begins with members of the community waking to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and feeling a sense of accomplishment as they assist with set up of the dining room up for breakfast. After enjoying breakfast with new friends, they get moving with yoga or chair exercises. Throughout the day there are many activities that keep residents active and engaged. Specially designed memory and life enrichment areas take community members back in time to the days they hold and cherish the most. Our Community Director leads programs that incorporate seniors’ history, preferences, and abilities into personalized care plans, to enable the highest quality of life possible.

What’s the difference between Alzheimer’s disease and dementia?
According to the National Institute on Aging, dementia refers to the loss of cognitive functions (thinking, reasoning, the ability to remember) that is severe enough to interfere with a person’s daily functioning. While dementia is not a disease, it may accompany certain diseases or conditions, the most common of which is Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer’s is a progressive, degenerative brain disease that specifically affects parts of the brain that control thought, memory and language. The National Institutes of Health estimates that more than 6 million Americans 65 and older have Alzheimer’s disease. Although younger people can (and do) get Alzheimer’s, symptoms generally begin after age 60.
How does memory care differ from traditional assisted living?
Unlike in assisted living, care provided is designed around the unique needs of memory loss.
