Charles May Community Relations Director
I am a native of Phenix City, Alabama, and have lived in the area for most of my life. After graduating from high school in 1977, I attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. While in college there, I met my soon to be bride, Judy, while working at a local radio station as a disc jockey. Four years later in 1981, we were married.
Over the next 30 years, I worked primarily in the advertising and printing industry as an Account Executive in sales; newspaper, yellow pages, direct mail, Cable TV and printing. In 2013, I began a new career working in the senior living retirement industry in Columbus, Georgia. This career change was very different from what I had been doing previously.
The decision to transition into the senior living industry was without a doubt, God sent. From 2002 to 2012, my wife and I, and our 2 daughters, were caregivers for my dad who lived with us in our home for over 10 years, after my mom passed away. This was a life changing event for all of us. I became closer to my dad than I had ever been my whole life. I learned the true meaning of: Galatians Chapter 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self – control. Against such there is no law.”
My wife, Judy, and our 2 daughters, Ashley and Amy are active members of Lakewood Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama. Judy and I sing in the choir, and I am also a Deacon.
The decision to join Oaks Senior Living was also God sent. When I learned of the new community being built in Columbus; Oaks at Grove Park, I researched the company to find out more. It did not take long for me to know that God was still in control of my life and my career. I accepted the position as the Community Relations Director. I am very excited and blessed to be a part of such an amazing company.
Lauren Gutowski Wellness Director
I grew up in the small town of Warm Springs, GA. After marrying my husband Jon in 2008, I moved to Columbus and now gladly call it home. Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be a nurse and wanted to help the people around me. I attended Columbus Technical College where I received my LPN in 2010.
I started my nursing career in long term care. During that time I served as a Charge Nurse and MDS Coordinator. I love working with the senior population because they have so much life, love and wisdom to share with the people around them. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Wellness Director at the Oaks at Grove Park. I look forward to serving the resident’s and their families.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking and playing board games. Jon and I have two fur babies, Dudley and Lucky, and look forward to what God has for our family in the future.
