Gail brings 14 years of experience as an assisted living community director. After serving as director of a domestic violence shelter/program during its formative years she made a career change in 1999 in order to care for her own aging parents. “I wanted to ensure that my parents received the best care and services. My father suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and my mother’s health was failing. It was such a blessing to be able to oversee their care – as well as that of all my residents. I had always gravitated toward senior adults – members of the Greatest Generation. They have so much wisdom and love to share. It quickly became obvious that this was my true calling and I never looked back.”

Gail received certification as an administrator from the Georgia ALFA and was certified as a dementia care specialist by the George G. Glenner Institute and School of Dementia Care in San Diego, California. She served as executive director of Plantation Manor Assisted Living Community in Thomasville, GA for nearly 13 years. Under her leadership the community’s Gracious Living wing became the first certified, secured memory care neighborhood in the area. Gail was an organizer of the annual Dr. Jim Neill Memorial Walk for Alzheimer’s Awareness which raised more than $110,000 in the fight against this terrible disease.

In May, 2012, Gail and her husband moved to north GA to be near their daughter and her family. At a community ‘farewell’ reception in her honor on the day of her departure Gail was gifted with a plaque from Thomas University and the Red Hills Gerontology Association for “unselfish devotion to the field of gerontology.” She joined the Oaks family in June, 2013. “I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing family! The Oaks Senior Living philosophy of care is stellar in every way and is reflected in everything we do. It’s all about the residents – as it should be. God blessed me by bringing me to serve at The Oaks at Hampton.”

Working for Oaks Senior Living has been a journey of many blessings. I started with the Oaks at Post Rd. seven years ago as a 3rd shift Care Partner. Six months later I moved to 2nd shift, and shortly thereafter I started training to become a Med Tech/Supervisor. Within a year I put myself through CNA school while still working full-time.  

Oaks at Hampton opened its doors in 2014, at which time I transferred over & continued to serve as a Med Tech/Supervisor until the position of Business Office Manager presented itself. It was my pleasure to serve as Business Office Manager (the B.O.M.) for just over 2 ½ years. Then I received yet another blessing – the position of Community Relations Director became available and yes, you guessed it…..I now serve as Community Relations Director (the C.R.D.) at Oaks at Hampton.

I absolutely love our residents, you can learn so much just by listening as they share their life stories. They are my family, they are my heart. Regardless of your job title – whether you live here or work here…you are surrounded by Love every day.

I started my nursing career 23 years ago. Initially, I worked with the elderly in Orchard Park (Western) New York. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed this work, I accepted a position as clinical coordinator of a large medical office. However, after several years, I realized that was not my passion. I went back to work with the elderly-loving to hear their stories, sitting beside them, holding their hands and (hopefully) making them have a better day.

In 2007 my children moved to Georgia to pursue their careers. So in 2012 my husband and I made the decision to follow them. I am blessed with two wonderful grandchildren. I am also blessed to be able to continue my career with seniors I love.

I am thankful every day to be a part of the Oaks family and for God giving me the passion to serve others.


Ashley Pierce - LPN Wellness Director

Born and raised in Georgia. Living most of my life in Cleveland, Ga, where I now live and raise my 3 wonderful sons. I grew up in a large household with 2 older sisters and 2 younger brothers. My parents, setting an excellent example, by always being hard workers. This gave me a great foundation to build upon.

As a young child, I knew that nursing was my future. After having my three children, God gave me the courage to overcome my hesitation to go back to school. I obtained my nursing degree at North Georgia Technical College, where I graduated at the top of my class as a member of the Honor Society.

My love for the older generations began as a child. As a family, every Sunday, we all would visit with either my paternal grandmother or grandfather. They both lived in skilled nursing facilities. This experience had a lasting impression on me, and helped me begin my journey to where I am now.

I was born and raised in Japan. I lost my mother when I was 16 years old at which time I assumed the maternal role over my four older brothers. It became obvious to me that I was a born nurturer – taking care of others has always made me feel good. For this reason I attended nursing school in Okinawa. I was still in school when I met my husband, a United States Marine, and we moved to Gainesville in 2003. We have three wonderful children – Sianna, Alex and Lucian.

I have always enjoyed the company of older adults. Seniors are respected, even revered in Japan. I especially enjoy working with people who have Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia. It is challenging but so very rewarding. As the Horizons Program Director for The Oaks at Hampton I am able use my skills, and my passion, to enhance the quality of life for these precious seniors. Our Horizons activities, both group and individual, are all resident centered. Structure is so important – but so are individual needs and desires. We take all of that into consideration as we plan our programs and activities. The Montessori-based dementia care programming training I received is very helpful to me in planning our daily activities and our monthly events.

It is a blessing to a part of The Oaks family. “Committed to serving with faith, knowledge, compassion and love” is not just a tagline – it is a way of life at The Oaks at Hampton. I truly believe I was meant to become a part of this team.

“I have a passion for and have enjoyed seniors since I was in middle school when I welcomed my first adopted grandparent into my life. I love hearing about the journey’s they have taken throughout their lives. I get back so much more than I give. I have 21 year old twin daughters who have volunteered in senior communities since they were 2 years old and I am proud to say that they too have caught the “Senior Love Bug”.

In 2009 I tragically lost my mom, who was the cement of our entire family leading me to make some major life changes. I moved in with my dad to help out and changed careers which enable me to work full time in a senior community. I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Sociology/Psychology but have worked as an Activities Director since 2011. It has truly felt like coming home. Each and every day I strive to shine a light into the lives of those around me and they in turn shine their lights right back at me!!!”

I have been in the food service business for 30 years. I spent 22 years of my career working at a chain diner, but my first job was as a dishwasher at the famous Dillard House. I was only 12 years old at the time. When I joined the diner business, I started out as a dishwasher, but shortly after I became a dependable short order cook. I was promoted throughout the ranks, and eventually became a corporate trainer and food safety expert, as well as, assisted menu development. Then, I had the opportunity to own my own restaurant. Although that did not work out, God led me to the senior living industry and the past 6 years have been the happiest work experience of my life. I enjoy working with seniors and it makes me happy seeing them happy.

At home, my wife Misty and I have a blended family, that spans from children ages 26 to 6. She has two sons (Ryan and Wesley) and I have two daughters (Megan and Grace). Together we have a daughter who keeps us young and vibrant (Summer). My hobbies include anything Georgia Bulldogs, anything food and spending time with my family.

Some of my strong suits include organization and being consistent. People have always remarked how they know what to expect from me. My personal motto is Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” This ensures I am always giving my best efforts, because my mind is on pleasing my Savior.

Having spent my childhood in the constant company of my grandparents, I have a great admiration for the knowledge and lessons that can be learned by our elders. I was born and raised in Forsyth County where I met my wonderful wife Nacie, of twenty-seven years. We have been blessed with two fantastic children, Kaliegh and Zane.

My 30 years experience as a Certified Facility Manager and Environment Specialist, lead me to my career in Assisted Living. I thank the Lord every day for the blessings He has bestowed upon me and my extended family.
